The year is 2005, and you have three mid-size performance cars at your disposal.
DD, Track & Burn. Go!
The Alfa Romeo 156 GTA, 250 BHP 3.2 V6.
The Volvo S60R, 295BHP 2.5 I5.
The Honda Accord Euro-R, 220BHP 2.0 I4.
The Alfa has gorgeous styling, the Volvo has the most power and the Honda has genius engineering underneath. All of them are stylish and individual enthusiast cars, you choose.

DD (because it wouldn’t break a lot) - Accord
Track (because it would break more than the Accord) - Volvo
Let sit (until it burns itself, of course) - Alfa

Pretty much where I was at as well except I was going to say mileage for the Accord.

As far as I’m concerned, this is not a contest. The Alfa wins everything.
Look at that. The swansong of the Busso V6.
Before haters start with trite stereotypes on Alfa’s, 156's were good cars as evidenced by the scores of high-mileage 156's on the used market.
Track the Honda, because it is interesting I guess?
Burn the Volvo (I’d burn another Honda to track the Alfa too).
PS, I like this game.

So true, the Alfa’s engine is brilliant - they even styled the engine bay and it looks fantastic. It was also upgraded for race use iirc.
These post will continue weekly for the foreseeable future, so good to hear you like it. ^_^

I own a 91 164 with an older iteration of that engine, and at 21 years old and unknown mileage(probably North of 200k) the engine is rock solid. The rest of the car is not at all solid, but the engine is.

DD the Honda. Track the Volvo. Burn the Alfa.
I’m sick of working on cars at the moment and this choice seems like it would require the least maintenance.

You didn’t say mid-sized performance sedan. You said mid-sized car.

DD the Volvo. I don’t care what the haters say, Clarkson himself said it was extremely comfortable in ‘Comfort’ mode and that he would love one as a relaxed cruiser since it wasn’t too happy in corners.
Track the Honda. It’s basically a big go-kart and doesn’t have as heavy an engine IIRC, thus it should be far less understeery.
Burn the Alfa, but I’d like the Busso V6 as a coffee table piece before that. A FWD Alfa is an ungainly creature that probably isn’t best tracked or dailyed anyway.

10/10 agree. TSX might need a bit of weight loss, though.

Maybe, but not as much as a regular Accord/TSX would. That engine and transmission combo would be great in my 5th gen Prelude, though. Might pick one up if my H23A ever breaks.
